  4. System requirements:Graphics board and room to run a 100k program.

  6. This program was written in BASICA and compiled Microsoft QUICK Basic
  7. ver 2.00 under dos 3.1 as an exercise in what can be done with BASIC.

  9. It was written on a IBM PC-XT with 10meg hard disk, 640k memory, and 
  10. EGA. It has been tested on a Columbia MPC-IV.

  12. I guarantee nothing!!  This project was started many months ago to see
  13. what could be done in BASIC (the only language I know much about). I soon
  14. found that basic is just too slow to handle the data required.

  16. The list of capitals is as accurate as I can get from a standard atlas.
  17. Some minor errors have been generated by eyeball interpolation and 
  18. weariness. I feel no obligation to make corrections or additions. If
  19. you don't like something don't send money or stew about it, send me
  20. a letter of complaint!!  I may or may not fix it (depends upon how I
  21. feel ! I probably won't even respond !)

  23. If I feel good and get some complaints I can handle I may put an update
  24. on COMPUSERVE at some time in the future.

  26. Obviously there is more information in 'traks' than this program requires.
  27. I also use this data file in other programs. To start a new year's 
  28. 'traks' simply rename traks to traksyy where yy is the year.

  35. I would like to thank those who did send comments (and especially those
  36. who sent money) based on WORLD. Many of the changes are a result of 
  37. suggestions from users. Some suggestions (such as adding color) were not
  38. practical for the majority of IBM computers. My Data Base is too crude.
  39.  
  40. No the Data points were not generated by THE FORCE I strained my eyeballs
  41. to create it. It is available as a seperate file and not available for 
  42. commercial use.
